Our World, Our Family

Every September nearly 1,000 people gather at Camp Lincoln and Camp Lake Hubert in Nisswa, MN, for a weekend full of laughter and great memories called Our World, Our Family. Girls choose from more than 60 session options while adults take part in trainings, sessions, chaperone their girls, or just enjoy the quiet beauty of nature! We share breakfast and supper in the dining hall; lunch and snacks are picnic-style. In the evening, in true camp fashion, we share our talents and sing camp songs.

2016 Highlights!

Back by Popular demand:

Joel Markon, Magician, made his Our World Our Family debut in 2015 talent show and is back by popular demand! This involved Girl Scout dad hails from Superior, Wisconsin, and loves the outdoor activities at Our World Our Family! Check out his magic sessions and don’t miss his repeat performance as he dazzles his audience!

Happy Dancing Turtles, a Hackensack-based non-profit that focuses on sustainable living, will be leading our Bugs session for Daisies and Brownies as well as a two-hour Savvy Survival Skills session for Cadettes and older.

John Latimer, host of KAXE Community Radio’s Phenology show for over 30 years, is a natural storyteller. His Nature Walk sessions are guaranteed to spark an interest and appreciation in birds, bees, and trees.

New to 2016

Marcy LaCriox, Certified Laughter Yoga instructor. Marcy says, “Laughter is the best medicine, and a universal language!” which is why it is essential. Marcy owns her own Laughter Yoga practice called -you guessed it! – Essential Laughter. Check out her sessions to discover a yoga more about breath and play than being a “human pretzel.”

Mary Alverson, Pilot and Aviation instructor joins Our World Our Family to share her adventures and land her sea plane right on Bass Lake!

Jan Almquist, a Rosemaler, has been painting for over 15 years. She studied with Rosemaling great Egil Dahle and teaches throughout the area. She is excited to be returning to Our World, Our Family and sharing her knowledge of this beautiful Norwegian Folk Art.
