Programs on the Go

A Program on the Go is an easy and flexible way to arrange a program at a date, time, and place that works for girls in your area.


Consider a Program on the Go for a troop meeting, service unit event, or a stay at a council property.* Program staff leads and provides program supplies. You recruit girls, provide safety-ratio chaperones, and bring a snack.

 

Minimum number of participants varies depending on topic and other factors.

Caring for Children

Grades 4-5
Learn to care for younger siblings and take the first steps to being a babysitter. Learn how to test a toy to make sure it is safe for children under 3, prepare healthy snacks, create a "rainy day" activity box, and make a booklet of babysitter safety measures. Up to 4 hours.

Cost: $12 girl, adult free


First Aid for Juniors

Grades 4-5
Learn and practice first aid for cuts, sprains, and fractures. What would you do if your friend had a nosebleed or felt faint? How do you survive outdoors in extreme weather? We'll learn how to handle these situations and what we should have in our home or troop first aid kit! Up to 4 hours.

Cost: $18 girl, adult free


Games, Songs and S'mores

Grades K-4
Have 15 minutes left in a meeting? Waiting in line? Traveling? Let's fill the time with games and songs! We'll come to you sharing ideas for new games and songs and delighting in old favorites. With little or no equipment you can enjoy these games and songs throughout the
year. Lasts up to 3 hours.

Cost: $10 girl, adult free


Geocaching

Grades 4-12
Discover the basics of the Geocaching craze! Learn how to use a Global Positioning System (GPS) to search for treasures. GPS units provided, no experience necessary! Girls even get a fun patch! Lasts up to 4 hours.

Girl Scout Gold Award Workshop

Grades 9-12
What is the approval process for the Girl Scout Gold Award? How do I decide on a community issue? What are the characteristics of a successful final Take Action project? This workshop helps girls answer these and other questions related to this prestigious national leadership award that Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors may earn. Lasts up to 2 hours.

Cost: $4 girl, adult free


Girl Scout Silver Award Workshop

Grades 6-9
Earning the Girl Scout Silver Award puts Girl Scout Cadettes along side an exceptional group of girls who have used their knowledge and leadership skills to make a difference in the world. Learn about the steps to complete the Silver Award as well as the qualities of a
successful final project. Lasts up to 2 hours.

Cost: $4 girl, adult free


Iron Chef Cook-Off

Grades 4-12
Cook a menu item featuring a 'secret ingredient' in the Girl Scout version of the cable show Iron Chef. Learn about nutrition, new ways to experiment with food, and play a food game to earn money to spend in the Girl Scout Grocery Store. Have your meal tastetested
by the professionals as you compete against the other groups to win the title Iron Chef! Cost includes program materials, food, fun patch. Lasts up to 3-5 hours.

Cost: $30 girl, adult free


Let's Travel!

Grades 4-12
Oh, the places you’ll go! Whether you or your group plans to travel to the Black Hills of South Dakota, go to Washington DC or Europe on a council sponsored trip, or even take a destination trip to Costa Rica and Panama, this workshop will give you helpful tips from
people who know it best. We will talk about national and international travel for group or council sponsored trips, GSUSA destinations and getaways, discuss ideas for successful planning, learn about the paperwork required, and share tried and true money earning ideas. Lasts up to 3 hours.

Cost: $8 girl, adult free


Manners Matter Girl Scout "Tea"

Grades 2-5, 6-12
Complements the It's Your Story-Tell It!

Brownies (2-3)--great supplement to "Meet My Customers" badge. Juniors (4-5)--#4 "Learn to Make a Good Impression" of Cookie CEO Badge and #5 "Enjoy Girl Scout Traditions" of Girl Scout Way Badge. Cadettes (6-8) #3 "Whip up a dish from Journey Juliette Low hosted many parties to help Girl Scouts succeed. She and others who attended were expected to "mind their manners." If you are interested in learning and practicing the manners Juliette used and expected from the earliest Girl Scouts, host a "Manners Matter Girl Scouts Tea" complete with snacks and beverages you could have expected to find in Juliette's tea garden (other beverages will be available). Cost includes program materials, a tea cup and napkin ring to keep. Lasts up to 3 hours.

Cost: $12 girl, adult free

 

Murder Mystery Party

Grades 4-12
Attend this dinner party and connect the clues to solve the murder mystery. Girls will be assigned a character and will dress up to assume their role as they try to figure out who-dun-it. Choose from two mystery options. Lasts up to 3 hours.

Savannah Days

Grades K-3, 4-12
Complements the Juliette Heritage Patch, Girl Scout Way Badge

Life in the South was much different when Juliette Low was growing up than it is today. To celebrate her heritage and the history of Girl Scouts join us for an interactive trip through time during "Savannah Days." Learn the story of Juliette, watch "The Golden Eaglet" film
(featuring Juliette Gordon Low), learn about and make a silhouette picture, learn about badges from the early days of Girl Scouting, and play a game from the early 1900’s. (Daisy & Brownie Girl Scouts will complete the Juliette Heritage Patch during this event. Junior-
Ambassador Girl Scouts will need to complete a few additional tasks before or after this activity.) . Cost includes program materials and Juliette Heritage Patch. Lasts up to 4 hours.

Secret Bully

Grades 4-8
Bullies aren't all rough and tough looking. They can be girls or boys, kids or adults. Anyone can be a bully - even you! At one time or another most of us will bully someone. But whether you are teasing a sibling or leaving out a friend, it is NOT okay, ever! Learn how to be a good friend. Cost includes program materials and fun patch. Lasts up to 3 hours.

Cost: $11 girl, adult free


Take Action!

Grades K-12
One of the great things about Girl Scouts is that girls care about helping others and want to make a real difference in the world. Through discussion, videos, and small group activities, girls will learn the difference between a service project and a Take Action project, and will work on a Take Action initiative that benefits their community. Let’s discover, connect and TAKE ACTION! Cost includes program materials and activity patch. Lasts up to 4 hours.

Cost: $8 girl, adult free

 

Team Building

Grades 2-12
Through lively and fun team challenges and games, girls improve their communication, conflict resolution, and problem solving skills. This lively Program on the Go helps groups and troops develop the cohesiveness needed to work together and understand each other
better. Cost includes program materials. Lasts to 3 hours.

Cost: $7 girl, adult free


Teddy Bear Clinic

Grades K- 3
Bring your favorite teddy bear to the clinic for a check-up! You'll visit different stations set-up to make sure your teddy is a healthy bear. You'll learn about first aid and keeping your bear (and you) safe! Cost includes program materials. Lasts up to 3 hours.

Cost: $7 girl, adult free
