We can't wait to partner again with the Lake Superior National Estuarine Reserve for our wonderful Girls in Science program. Join successful women scientists in hands-on, real life outdoor experiences that will show you how science helps the natural world. Experience the St. Louis River freshwater estuary by providing assistance with an outdoor research project. Come with an inquiring mind and be prepared to get wet, dirty and have a blast.

Girls in Science will take place from 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday, October 4, 2014 and costs $12 per girl.  Since it takes place so early in the Girl Scout year, it's vital that you make plans to attend early and be sure to register.  Questions? Contact Amanda Morrow with questions at amorrow@gslakesandpines.org.

Ready to register? Great!  Click here for the program registration form.

Hope to see you there!

Girls from all over the council traveled to Duluth for not one, but two, council trips featuring the city!  Younger girls visited the Great Lakes Aquarium, the zoo, and stayed overnight at the Duluth Children's Museum.  Older girls came two weeks later and traveled to Gooseberry Falls, Brighton Beach, the Glensheen Mansion, and more!  Despite chilly weather, the girls saw lots and got to know other Girl Scouts from different areas.  Below, the girls brave the waves of Park Point Beach!

Our Kaleidoscope event in Superior, WI was a smashing success!  Hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Superior, girls had the opportunity to reach the top of the climbing wall, learn from the UWS cheer and dance teams, try out rugby and build teamwork skills on the low ropes course.  Adults learned about Girl Scout camp, tried their hands at leather working, and got to know each other throughout the day.  Girls and adults alike tried cake decorating--they had a blast designing and then eating their creations!  We also honored Silver Award winners Caitlin Podratz, Ahna Suliin, Lindsey Shykes, and Jara Moir, Volunteer of Excellence award winners Laura Gomez, Laurie Audette, and Jamie White-Farnham, and Thanks Badge winner April Rasmussen.  It was a wonderful experience for all!
