Volunteers, here is a new resource that we hope will help you partner with your girls to create and carry out a Take Action Project, whether as part of a Journey or a Bronze, Silver, or Gold Award.  As you know, we believe in giving girls the opportunity to take the lead in creating a project that is close to their hearts, using their creativity to find a lasting solution to a problem, and carrying out the steps to complete the project.  What does this process look like for our youngest girls?  How can we challenge our older girls?  How can we convert an idea for a temporary help to a lasting solution?  Check out this flyer for ideas!

Hello fellow Girl Scouts and Families,

There is a great need for homebound and seniors with needs for shoveling out after snow storms. Read the message below from Julia of United Way. Part of Julia’s area covers all of Region 2 and she said area of need include the Duluth, Superior, Two Harbors and Hermantown/Proctor/Pike Lake and Cloquet areas.

Please pass on this information from Julia to all of your Girl Scout families or any friend/s that may be able to help.  Contact should be made directly to her, and she will connect you with a family, elderly person you can help.

See the message below:

"Hello GSMWLP,

My name is Julia and I work for United Way 2-1-1, a nationwide information and referral service for health and social services. My
call center is particularly for parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Currently we are getting many calls for help with shoveling from individuals who are seniors or disabled and have limited income. We are running out of places to refer people, and were reaching out to ask for help from your Girl Scout volunteers.

They can get in touch with me by calling (218)726-4773 and leaving a message.

Thank you so much for your help!

Warm regards,

Julia Johnson
